From Across the Pond
I always love getting mail, but today I got a special box from my husband. It is the first time I have ever received personal mail from over seas! Sweet Morgan sent me candies (!!!!!!) from Germany & scarves (GUSH) from Afghanistan. As excited as I get about receiving, this is the season for giving! Morgan earned his Masters in P&R, and his thesis was based on implementing Wounded Warrior programs into community-based recreation centers. If you happen to be interested in making a donation towards the military this holiday season, I suggest checking out the Wounded Warrior Project.

Missing my Soldier
A big shout out to all military families going through the holidays without their special soldiers! My newlywed husband has been in Afghanistan for a month now and I am living one day at a time, painting my heart out. Here are 2 paintings done the week before his first deployment, Enjoy!

Holiday Photo Shoot
I decided to make our first holiday card together special (Such good sports!!!). I am SO in love with our handcrafted hats made by the lovely artists of Sweethoots! Starring Paul in the Carmen Miranda Fruit Hat, Morgan in the Shark Hat, George in a custom made Dragon Hat (he just turned 1… and wanted to EAT the hat!), and myself in the Unicorn Hat. All hats can be made to order for dogs & humans. Happy Holidays!!!!!
A Salvageable Gem
I am staying at my parents’ NC home in transition to moving across the country to my newly purchased home in CO. In my sister’s room I found this salvaged canvas from the art room of the highschool down the street. Although today’s rainy day project will be to repurpose this canvas, I wanted to share the original with you (in all its glory). Plus, dig on this rainy monday 80′s jam:

Squid
So, I have been in the habit of asking new people in my life what their f.a.v.o.r.i.t.e. animals/foods/things are for illustration inspirations. I rented a room this summer from an artist, in a house full of artists. One of them likes squids!
Vampire Squid!!!!!!!
Thinking and Thinking
I have been thinking & thinking about how to make my blog more versatile. All this thinking has gotten me to about half a years worth of NOTHIN’. So, I have decided to start posting all of my inspirations, discoveries, and adventures that come along through my art. Im back!
